Biography

Daughters of the American Revolution
Patrick Kendrick Sr. is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A064525.

Born: Patrick Kendrick was born January 10, 1725 in Stafford, Virginia.[1]

Marriage: Patrick married Jane Fox before 1752 in Overwharton Parrish, Stafford Co., VA.[2]

Military Service: Patrick Kindrick served in military active duty in Washington County, Virginia (Revolutionary War; under Capts. William Russell and James Montgomery).[3]

Occupation and Land Grants: Patrick Kendrick was a Farmer.[4] He appears on the 1773 King George County, Virginia Rent Roll.[5] In 1785, an indeterminate number of the two families migrated to Southwest Virginia. Patrick Kendrick, Sr. and other families settled on Clinch River near the present village of Raven. John and Isabel Horton located on the south side of Kents Ridge on the south fork on the stream which was later named Maidens Springs or Little River.

Between 1785 and 1794, he received four Virginia Land Grants in Washington and Russell Counties, Virginia.[6] Patrick's last Land Grant was in 1801.[7]

September 6, 1788, Patrick Kendrick 165 ac, Part Treasury Warrants number 19435 dated September 16 1783 on Indian Creek, corner of Kendrick's settlement tract, near Indian Creek, by the side of main county road, crossing Indian Creek, near a tract of Rev. James Madison 298 ac,

September 6 1798, Patrick Kendrick, 25 ac, part of Treasury Warrant number 871, dated November 28 1794, on the south side of the north fork of Clinch River, corner to Kendricks survey now occupied by William Samples

Petition to Form Russell County: Patrick Kendrick was among the signers of a December 1785 petition by "sundry inhabitants of Clinch River, Moccasin Creek, Powells Valley, and others, citizens of Washington County," to form a new county which eventually became Russelll County, Virginia.[8]

Death: Patrick died on 04 Jun 1805 in Russell Co, Virginia, USA (Age: 80).[3][9] [4]

Last Will and Testament: The Will of Patrick Kendrick is found in the Russell County, Virginia, Will Book 2, Page 87, Executed 04 Jun 1805[9]

In the name of God Amen. I Patrick Kindrick of Russell County and Commonwealth of Virginia being in perfect health and of sound mind and memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament and as for the worldly estate wherewith it has pleased the Almighty to bless me I give and dispose of the same in the following manner viz:
I give and bequeath unto Molley Horton the sum of five shillings.
I give and bequeath unto Isabel Horton the sum of five shillings.
I give and bequeath unto my son William Kindrick the sum of five shillings.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Lock sum of five shillings.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Frances Richie the sum of five shillings.
I give and bequeath unto my son Patrick KIndrick the sum of five shillings.
I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rachel Johnson the sum of five shillings.
And for and in consideration of the dutiful behaviour and industry of my son George Kindrick it is my will and desire that he may possess all the remainder of my Estate and I do hereby give and bequeath the hole of the same to my son George Kindrick and his heirs or assigns reserving unto my beloved wife Jane her saddle and her choice of any one of the horses or mares I may die possessed of as also the best bed and furniture to it, a chest and her cloathing all which it is my will and desire she may dispose at her death as she may think proper and I do hereby acknowledge this and no other to be my last will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this Tenth day of September eighteen hundred and three.

Signed sealed and delivered by the said Patrick Kindrick to be his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have Signed our names as witnesses thereunto in his presence. Harry Smith, Travis Kindall, Joel Cook, at a court of Quarterly Session held for Russell County on the 4th day of June 1805.
This Instrument of writing was exhibited in court as and for the last will and Testament of Patrick Kindrick dec'd and proven by the oaths of Harry Smith and Travis Kindall witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.
And on motion of George Kindrick Letters of Administration with the will annex'd is granted him on the Estate of the said Patrick Kindrick deceas'd he having forth made oath thereto and entered in and acknowledged his bond in the penal sum of five hundred Dollars together with Harry Smith and Simeon Jackson his securites conditioned as the Law directs.

Patrick Kindrick's Inventory and Appraisal was accepted on June 15, 1805.[10]

Kendrick-1046 and Kendrick-490 appear to represent the same person because: Same approx birth date. same children. siblings of son William match those heirs named in the Will of Kendrick 490. Same death dates. Son William's mother is the wife of Kendrick 490.
