[Joseph]Roberts was soon joined by his brothers, John and Jonathan Roberts, Jr.; and by Benjamin Cilley, who was accompanied by his sons, Benjamin, Jr. and Simon. In this year also, came William Doble and James Jordan. [1799?] Shadrack Hall is sometimes credited with being the second settler in Washington Plantation. After marrying Sarah Roberts, the couple first settled in Buckfield, but moved to Washington Plantation in 1802, settling on the “Brown Hill.” He and his wife were to have 11 children: Hatevil, Ann, Mary, William, Eliza, Arthur, Ruth, Nathan, Abigail, Enoch, and Miriam. https://www.allmainematters.com/June06/Profiles-Brooks.html
James Jordan [Jr.]: He was the son of James Jordan, born in Standish Neck, Cumberland county, Me. His mother was Phebe Philbrick, of Kittery. Noted: Most other sources reflect Phebe Mitchell, see marriage info below.

James Jordan, White Plains, Valley Forge; died in Monroe, March 31, 1813. .....
James Jordan and wife, Hannah Roberts, lived for several years in the eastern part of the town. He was a settler here before the census was taken in 1790. It does not appear that this family was related to the other Jordan families of Buckfield. He served in the Revolutionary War and had command "on the line" in front of the enemy at Bemis Heights, Saratoga, in the Biirgoyne campaign. History of Buckfield page 612.

JAMES,5 (James,4 Jeremiah.3 Jeremiah,2 Robert,1) eldest son of James and Phehe (Mitchell) Jordan, was born at Falmouth, now Cape Elizabeth, Cumberland County, Maine.
There are many plausible reasons for supposing that this James may have been identical with the James Jordan whose name appears on the pay-rolls of soldiers serving during the war of the Revolution, as follows : Under Capt. Abner Lowell, stationed at Falmouth, 1776; under Capt. Maybury, in expeditionto Bennington, 1777 ; under Capt. Joshua Jordan, in Penobscot expedition, 1779. By the town record of Buckfield, Oxford Co.. Me., it appears that one James Jordan had his residence in that town. He had a wife Hannah, and a family of children, none of whom, or any of their descendants now reside in that town, nor can any information be obtained of them. It is supposed he was the son of James and Phebe Jordan.
