Robert James Jenkin was born in 1889 in Chacewater, Cornwall, England and his birth was registered in Truro in the March quarter. ^[1] He was the son of William Harry Jenkin and Hannah (Phillips) Jenkin.

In the 1891 census Robert (age 2) was the son of William Jenkin in Chacewater, Kea, Cornwall, England.^[2]

In the 1901 census Robert (age 12) was a son in Kea, Cornwall, England. ^[3]

At the age of 21, Robert migrated to Tasmania in Australia.

Robert was registered to vote in 1914 in Ringarooma, Bass, Tasmania, Australia.^[4]

Robert Jenkin was in a military record showing he enlisted in Claremont, Tasmania at the age of 25. His service number was 3571.^[5]

Robert Jenkins was in the military and died of wounds in France on 7 January 1917 aged 28 years. He was in the Australian Infantry (service number 3571) and was buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery in France. ^{[6] [7]}

Robert was engaged to Amy Francis (Trippy) Forsyth of Ringarooma and she never married after his death. Amy died on 5 June 1968 aged 76 years.
