Simon Jackson was born on 20 Nov 1760, in Newtown, Middlesex County, in the Province of Massachusetts. He was the son of Michael Jackson and Ruth Parker.[1] [2]

Simon Jackson of Newton was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, serving in Capt. Phineas Cook's company, Lieut. Col. William Bond's (late Col. Thomas Gardner's) 37th regiment in 1775, and as Paymaster and Ensign in Col. Michael Jackson's (8th) regiment, promoted to Lieutenant, then Captain, in 1777 through 1779, and reported as Assistant in Adjutant General's department from Jan. 1, 1780, to Dec. 31, 1780; and as a Captain of the 8th company, Col. John Greaton's (3d) regiment in 1782, and as a Captain in Lieut. Col. Calvin Smith's (6th) regiment late in 1782, and as Captain of the 8th company, 2d Massachusetts regiment, commanded by Lieut. Col. Ebenezer Sprout in 1783, and as Captain, 6th Massachusetts regiment commanded by Col. Benjamin Tupper. [4] [5] [6] [7]

Simon married Borodell Shepard in Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts on 28 Feb 1786.[8] [2] [3]
