Arthur was born on 19th January 1831 in Balerno.[1]
Arthur married Sarah Ann Graham on 5th August 1853 in Liberton, Midlothian. [2]
In 1861 Arthur was a Collier, living in Loanhead, Lasswade Parish, with his wife and thee children[3]
In 1871 Arthur was still a miner and lived at Whitehill Engine, Lasswade Parish with his wife and eight children[4]
In 1881 Arthur was a miner living in Loanhead with his wife and six of his children[5]
In 1882 Arthur Grant was the informant when his grand son, William John Grant, was born.
In 1891 Arthur lived at West end cottages Loanhead with his wife and three of his children, two grandchildren and two boarders[6]
In 1901 Arthur, at the age of 73, was still employed as a miner. He lived in Loanhead with his wife, three of his children and four of his grandchildren[7]
In 1911 Arthur was living at Thirlestone Cottage, New Pentland with his daughter Emily and three of her children. They also had a 22 year old Lodger who was a coal miner living with them.[8]
Arthur Grant passed away in 1925 at Thirlestone Cottage, New Pentland[9]
