I am 25 degrees from Alexander Grant.
In 1900, in Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee my grandpa was age 3. Living In the same house with my grandpa Earl Altaman Weaver was listed a nephew named-Robert Lee Grant. Robert was around 23 years of age.
Robert was related through my moms Weaver side. Mary Ann Polly Cole was also living in the same house with my my grandpa Earl in 1900 . Polly was my grandpa’s Great Grandma, and she was widowed and in her late 70’s.
Polly Cole raised the head of the house person- which was James Neal ( JN) Weaver. But Polly raised JN ( as if she was his biological mom.) Polly was actually JN’s grandma.
Polly raised JN with no formal adoption in Tennessee before the year 1900, and JN was born in 1865 in Winchester. JN was born out of an extramarital affair by Polly’s daughter -Euphamia Ann ( Effy) Ridgway/ Taft, and Newton Albert Jacob ( Jeff) PLESS Junior.
JN should have been a Pless, but the Weaver surname was just tagged onto JN as for him not to be called a bastard child.
Polly Cole first married John Ridgway, who was Polly’s daughter’s father. But after Ridgway, Polly married 2nd to a Johnnie W. Weaver. Johnnie is how JN received his Weaver surname. Johnnie was only JN’s Step- Grandpa.
My grandpa Earl Weaver and his father JN Weaver went through there entire life thinking their surname was Weaver, but it was actually Pless.
