George Grant was born in Appalachia, in Virginia (now West Virginia).

George Edward Grant was born in 1849 in Barbour, Virginia, United States, son of Edward Francis Grant and Angeline Eglantine (Jarvis) Cottrell.[1]

In 1850, George was living in Barbour, Virginia. [1]

in 1860. George was living with his father and his father's wife, Lydia in Barbour, Virginia. [2]

by 1870, West Virginia had become a state. George was living in Barbour West Virginia, Working as a cabinet maker. [3]

George died on Jan 23 1915 and is buried in Philippi City Cemetery, Philippi, West Virginia. [4]
