Rev. Jacob Foster, born Holliston, Mass. March 10, 1732; married Hepzibah Prentiss, daughter of Henry Prentiss. He graduated Harvard College in 1754. He was ordained pastor of the church in Berwick, Maine in 1756. At his own request, he was dismissed from his charge and entered the Continental Army as chaplain of Col. James Scammon's regiment in 1777. Subsequently he was installed pastor of a church in Packersfield, New Hampshire (now Nelson) in 1781 where he ministered for ten years. He died there on December 3, 1798. [1]
