Asa Emerson is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A036383.

Asa was born 16 October 1746, in Methuen, Massachusetts. He is the son of Reuben Emerson and Sarah Colburn.[1][2]

On 19 December 1769, Asa married Miriam Coburn in Pelham, New Hampshire.[3][4]

Asa served in the American Revolution. He was a private in Captain John Minott's company in Colonel Dike's regiment from 5 December 1776 to 1 March 1777 at Dorchester Heights, credited to the town of Dunstable, New Hampshire. Asa was at Camp Totowa, New Jersey. He is on a return from Brigadier General Paterson dated 25 October 1780. He is also on the pay roll for six months of men reaised by the town of Dunstable for service in the Continental Army during 1780, marching 6 August 1780 and discharged 18 February 1781. Asa also served in Captain Matthew Chamber's company in Colonel Thomas Nixon’s Sixth Regiment in August to December 1780. He was listed on the pay roll at West Point.[5][6][7][8][9]

In 1790, the family is living in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts. The household consists of four males under 16; two males 16 and over; and five females.[18]

In 1800, the family is located in Winslow, Maine. The household now consists of one male under 10; one male 16-25; one male 45 and over; one female 10-15 and one female 45 and over.[19]

Asa's DAR record shows a date of death as 2 June 1817, in Brownville, Maine. Asa died before pensions were available to Revolutionary War veterans, so there is no pension file.[9]
