SPECIAL NOTE: Capt. Hiram Eaton's father JAMES A. EATON built the family farm on Turnpike Road. It was then lived in by Hiram and Nancy, then Lester and Emily Prudence, then Esther and Charlie Bennett - then Esther and Austin Homer. My mom lived there at times and my parents brought me home from the hospital to this wonderful home.

Biography

When James A. Eaton was born on March 15, 1784, in Deer Isle, Maine, his father, Jonathan Eaton, was 38 and his mother, Diana Dow Eaton, was 36. He married Elizabeth "Betsey" Howard in 1808 in his hometown. They had three children in 15 years. He died on April 30, 1863, in Searsport, Maine, having lived a long life of 79 years, and was buried there.

Birth of Younger Sister Betty Eaton who was born in 1787 in Deer Isle, Maine, when James A. was 3 years old. Betty died 5 years later, in 1792!
