Dear Dave, I found out in a roundabout fashion that my Eastins had gone to Georgia (atleast some of them) I descend from Johnston Eastin, the son of Philip's first marriage to Elizabeth ?. I have perhaps presumed the last name was Johnston but have had my hands slapped by others when I presume things to be. My Jane Eastin, the dtr of Johnston went with her sister, Rebecca who was md to Rev. Francis McCormick, a Revolutionary War chaplain, to Ohio where they settled in Clermont Co. (Cincinnati). I don't know what happened to their Mother, Mary who was widowed when Johnston died in the 1780's. She md Oliver McCormick who was either the father of Francis or a brother. My Jane md Samuel Hill and the Hills later moved to cou ties outsdie of Nashville, TN.
It was when I was looking into my father's side of the family, down in Elbert Co. when I found out about the Eastins there. There is a connection to the Gaines, Fortin families also. I have communicated with other relations to this line in Georgia.
Have you ever seen the book, THE WAY IT WAS WITH OUR ANCESTORS, written by William and Fonda Gilbert Marcum? There is more in the book about the Davis's. It, the book,is at the Fort Wayne Library , Allen County Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I am by bith a Gilbert and altho the Gilberts Fonda writes about are not mine, my Gilberts are mentioned in the book.
Regards, Mary Jane Dalgleish[3]
