Biography

Willard Perry Dunton, the son of A. Dunton and Mary E. Perry, was born in Saugatuck,^[1] Michigan^[2] on March 30, 1876.^[3] On July 5, 1905, in San Juan County, Washington, he married Mildred Mae Ireland (1886-1967).^[4][5]

Mildred and Willard seem to have moved frequently. In 1906, they were living in Bellingham, Washington, where Willard worked as a printer, and where their daughter Helen Eileen was born.^[2] 1910 found them in Spanaway Precinct, Pierce County, Washington, where Willard was a typographer on a newspaper.^[6] Three years later, they were in Tacoma, WA.^[7] In 1920, the family was in Stanford Town, School District 12, Fergus County, Montana, where Willard was editing a weekly paper with Mildred's assistance.^[8] Ten years later, they were back in Washington, in the community of Woodland. (Willard was again editing a newspaper, to which Mildred and their son Edwy contributed as reporters.)^[9] In 1935, they were living in rural Gilliam County, Oregon, and, in 1940, Aurora, Oregon, where Willard was publishing a weekly paper.^[10] 1950 found them in Portland, Oregon, where Mildred was now working as a practical home nurse.^[11]

Willard Dunton died in Portland, Oregon's Multnomah Hospital on March 12, 1952.^{[3] [12] [13]} His cremated remains are held at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland, Oregon.^[14]
