Captain Perez Sr, son of John Drinkwater and Susanna Brown, was born in 1761 in the North Yarmouth, Province of Maine,^[1] which was first settled in 1636, abandoned twice, and successfully settled in 1713. The town motto: "The Town Where Others Began"

Perez Sr was the first of 12 children: 5 sons and 7 daughters.

Perez married Keziah Gray in 1786 in Cumberland, Maine, which is next door to Yarmouth. They had 7 children: 5 sons and 2 daughters.

1. Their first son, Robert, was lost at sea at age 22, shortly after he married Margaret Greeley.
2. 2nd son, Perez Jr, was commissioned as a privateer and later taken prisoner by the British and imprisoned in Dartmoor Prison in England.
3. 3rd son, Rotheus, married with eight known children, was a sailor.
4. 4th son, Elbridge, married Olive Leighton, no known children, farmer.
5. 5th son, John Russell, married Betsy Greely, 5 known children, farmer.
6. daughter Dorcas, married Capt Rotheus Drinkwater, died young w/child.
7. daughter Keziah Gray, married Rufus Parker, 3 known children.
