Biography

James Davis, the son of George Davis and Susannah Hodges was born on April 6, 1840 in Madison, Kentucky. He died 11 June 1881 (aged 81) in Armington, Tazewell, Illinois, United States and was buried at Oakview Cemetery in Armington, Tazewell County, Illinois, United States.[1]

He married Susan C (E) Bentley on December 4, 1866, in his hometown of Madison, Kentucky. [2]

They had four children during their marriage:

  1. William Sinett Davis 1867–1941
  2. Mary Larena Davis 1869–1956
  3. Edgar D Davis (1870–1953)
  4. Mathilda Mahala Davis (1872–1926)

In 1870, James Davis, age 28 was living in Madison Kentucky with his wife Susan, 23. Other persons in the household were: Son, Willie Davis, age 3 Daughter, Mary Davis, age 1 John C Wilmoth, age 22 [3]

Five years after his father's death, James' and Susan's son, William S Davis married Carrie Shrev in Bloomington, McLean, Illinois, United States on 6 December 1885 .[4]

On 9 January 1890 , James' and Susan's daughter, Mattie Davis married Samuel T Tanner in Bloomington, McLean, Illinois, United States.[5]

James's son William Davis died on 18 December 1941 in Los Angeles, California, United States.[6]
