Biography

Blanche Pearl Davis was born on 28 May 1893[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] in Saint Clairsville, Belmont County, Ohio, United States[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][12]. She was the daughter of Hamilton Cloyd Davis[1][3][4][5][6][2][12] and Lillian Leona/Leota Taylor[1][2][3][4][5][6][12].

Blanche married Charles Johnson Snyder[5][6][7][8][9][13][12][14][15] on 14 January 1915[5][6] in Saint Clairsville, Belmont County, Ohio, United States[5][6].

Blanche and Charles had 9 children: Lena Leota (Snyder) Orn[7][8][9][16][13][12][14], Unnamed Snyder[17], Edwin Charles Snyder[7][8][9][18][13][14][19], Frances/Francis Cloyd Snyder[8][9][20][13][14], Ray Snyder[21][12], John W Snyder[8][9][10][13][12][22][14], Donald Duane Snyder[8][13][23][12][14], James H Snyder[9][10][13][12][14], and Madge Marie (Snyder) Blacker[9][10][13][24][25][12][14][15]. There is a chance that Blanche and Charles had a 10th child Robert Lee Snyder who was born and died in infancy on 18 November 1921[26].

He had resided in Bellaire for 27 years, was a former employe of the Willow Grove mine and retired nine months ago. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Blanche Snyder, and seven children: Edwin of Shadyside, Francis, John, Don and James, all of Neffs; Mrs. Lena Orn of Detroit and Miss Madge Snyder of the home, two brothers, Frank of Neffs and Roy of Bellaire, and four sisters, Mrs. Corn St. Johns of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Steresa Workman of Neffs; Mrs. Edith Marion of Stewartsville and Mrs. Rachel Dixon of Bethesda. The body will be returned to the home today and on Friday returned to the funeral home for services at 10:30 o'clock. The Rev. Milton Allison will conduct the rites with burial in Union cemetery."

He was a retired superintendent of county highways at the Belmont County Engineering Department, Methodist and ARMY veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 77, Neffs. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and John. Surviving are his wife, Alberta Perzanowski Snyder; a son, Cloyd of Belmont; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Claudia) Lyon of Patriot, Mrs. John (Cindy) Sharpe of Belmont and Alice Snyder of Largo, Fla., two brothers, Donald and James, both of Indianapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Lowell (Madge) Blacker of Martins Ferry and Mrs. Wayne (Lena) Orn of Sun City, Ariz.; five grandchildren. Friends will be received today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bauknecht Funeral Homes, Bellaire, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Ralph Salcicca officiating. Don was a retired employee of International Harvester Company and a Navy Veteran of WWII And the Koran War. Preceding him in death were his wife, Mary Sidoni Snyder; two daughters, Rebecca and Marybeth Snyder and a great granddaughter, Emily Helsel. Surviving are his children: Mike (Fran) Snyder of Martins Ferry, Ohio, Dominic (Brenda) Snyder of Martins Ferry, Barbara (Jay) Grimes of Largo., Jim (Michelle) Snyder of Wheeling, W.VA., Jeff (Liz) Snyder of Clovis, Calif., Amy (Bob) Grubb of Indianapolis, Ind. and Jason (Annette) Snyder of Indianapolis; a sister, Madge Blacker of Martins Ferry; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
