Obituary

Mrs. Lucinda Tatlock, widow of Thomas Tatlock, Sen, died here last Thursday night of typho-malarial fever, at the age of 82 years. Deceased's maiden name was Davis. She was born in Kentucky, but was brought here while a child by her parents to Monroe Township. She remembered of living in a fort for some time while the Indians were troublesome, in her childhood. After she was married and had children of her own, she became aware that there was danger around them no less to be dreaded than the savages. She felt the need of fortifying against immortality, so she joined the M. E. church and tried to lead her family in the way of its teachings. She remained a life-long member. She has one son Charley Tatlock, and three daughters and a large number of grandchildren living. She was well respected. The funeral was preached by Rev. E.W. Cadwell, himself an old pioneer, assisted by Rev. T. J. Taylor. Thus the pioneers are fast passing away. (Special thanks to Carolyn Ellis) [1]
