Biography

Joshua Davis was born in Appalachia, in Virginia (now West Virginia).

Joshua was born about 1840. He was the son of Jesse Davis and Margaret Godfrey. [1] He fought in the United States Civil War as a Private for the Confederacy. BATTLE UNIT NAME: 45th Battalion, Virginia Infantry COMPANY: D [2]

According to Ancestry.com, he was a prisoner at Camp Morton in 1864 and exchanged in 1865. [3]

Joshua married Mary Justice about 1865 if going by the fact that their first child was four during 1870 Census. [4] He and Mary had the following children:

  2. Augustus Davis
  3. Edward Davis
  4. Mary Effie (Davis) Hatfield
  5. All
  6. Harriet Catherine (Davis) Sykes
  7. Irvin Washington Davis
  8. Susan (Davis) Hatfield
  9. Ted Franklin Davis
  10. Adolph Davis

He passed away in 1886.[5]
