I have been researching my family history since 1978 when my grandmother wanted to find the grave of her grandmother. While I haven't found an actual grave, I have found documentation that her grandmother, Julia Harding Hutchinson, was buried in Doniphan county, Kansas.
Over the years I have used PAF, The Master Genealogist (TMG) and now RootsMagic (RM) to store my genealogy research. While using The Master Genealogist, I was able to upload my file to a website, which I named Heartland Genealogy.
When I converted from TMG to RM, I elected to discontinue that web site and have replaced it with my blog, Heartland Genealogy. I have used my blog to share my research activities, including transcription of records.
When people ask me about my research, they typically want to know where my family is from. Often times, I will jokingly answer this question, KENTUCKY. While I have a lot of lines that do not go thru Kentucky, many of my brick walls are stuck in Kentucky.
This includes my CRAWFORD line where my ancestor, James Crawford, was married. This marriage took place in Garrard County, Kentucky in 1799. My ancestor is one of three James Crawford men found in the early records for Garrard County. The county may have also been visited by Rev. James Crawford, a minister in the Lexington area. To separate out my James Crawford, I've researched the following lines:
I manage 4 DNA tests on Ancestry: myself, 2 brothers and my mother
Ancestry DNA has been uploaded to MyHeritage and FamilyTree DNA.
I manage 3 BigY tests on FamilyTree DNA in the CRAWFORD yDNA project.
Most of my research is shared on my Ancestry Tree: Heartland Genealogy
To help connect my research activities to my tree on Wikitree, I have created a 'spaces' page called Marcia Crawford Philbrick's Research. I have also created a 'spaces' page called Heartland Genealogy to begin indexing my blog posts.
