In the late 1790's, Nathaniel Cole, his wife and 6 children (first son Andrew was left buried in Connecticut), along with older brother Sylvanus and his family, and some Connecticut neighbors, left their farms and headed east into Indian lands of Central New York.[1]
Sylvanus and his family were enumerated in South East, Dutchess County, New York in 1790 with a household of one male over the age of 16, one under, and four females.[2]
In 1820, the family was living in Windsor, Broome County, New York. The household:[3] Males - 16 thru 18 1
Sylvanus was living in Colesville, Broome County, New York, when he wrote his will on 25 January 1827. In the will, which was proved in 3 June 1825 , he mentioned the following:[4]
