Susannah Mariah Carter was born on October 20, 1845 in Smyth County, Virginia, United States, daughter of Solomon Carter (1821–1854) and Lucinda Lucy Roe Baber (1822–1910).

Susannah (20) married her cousin, Solomon Carter (24) (born on September 11, 1841 in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky) on January 31, 1867 in Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[1]

Their children were:

In 1870, Susannah lived in Mercer, West Virginia, United States with Solomon and 2 children.[2]

For 30 years, they lived in Clear Fork District, Tazewell, Virginia, United States.[3][4][5]

In 1920, she lived in Graham, Tazewell, Virginia, United States where she died in 1926, and is buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Bluefield, Tazewell County, Virginia, USA.[6]
