Biography

"Samuel C. Campbell died at his residence, near Lantz's Mill, last Sunday aged 83 years, 6 months, and 23 days. Mr. Campbell was for a number of years a Justice of the Peace. He left a wife and two sons, Messrs. Joseph Campbell, of Columbus, Ohio, and Mr. Milton Campbell, of Lantz's Mill. He had been for a number of years a member of the Reformed Church. He was buried on last Tuesday. The funeral services were conducted by his pastor. Rev. Shullenberg." Some sources say Samuel was born in 1822, but 83 years before 1903 is 1820. [1]

Samuel's first wife Rebecca passed in 1862; he married his second wife Eleanor in 1865, according to the 1900 Census. This census also indicated that Samuel's father was from Scotland and his mother was from Virginia. [2]
