Biography

William Bent was born around 1845 in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, the son of Mary Elizabeth (Streets) Bent and William Bent.

He was baptised on 5 October 1845 at Liverpool St Peter, Lancashire.^[1]

William, with parents and siblings, emigrated to Australia on the Monteagle in 1855.^[2]

He married Johanna Welsh Spence on 8 February 1866 in Victoria, Australia.^[3] Their children were:

• George Francis Bent (1869–1896)^[4]
• Arthur Ernest Bent (1872–1875)^[5]
• Lilian Mary Bent (1884–1885)^[6]

William died on 22 August 1893 at McKillop Street in Geelong, Victoria, aged 48 years.^[7]
