Jesse L Bent was born in 1812 in Fort Lawrence, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, son of Ebenezer Vose Bent (1771–1855) and Lucy Minor (1776–1847).^[1]

His siblings were:

• Amy Bent (1805–1874)
• Almira Bent (1806–1895)

Jesse (26) married Ruth Grace Scurr (20) (born about 1818 in Sackville, Westmorland; daughter of Benjamin Carnforth Scurr and Mary (Bulmer) Scurr) in October, 1839 in Sackville, Westmorland.

Jesse died on September 27, 1889 in Sackville, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada, aged 76. He was buried in Lower Sackville Methodist Cemetery, Sackville, Westmorland County, New Brunswick.^[1]
