TM Banta gives an account of Jacob's military service on page 174, and lists 13 children:
--He enlisted at Newcastle, Henry County, Kentucky and served from May to November 1813, under Captain Rice in the Kentucky Mounted Volunteers, in the command of R. M. Johnson (later vice president) and was present at the Battle of the Thames, in which Tecumseh was allegedly killed by Johnson, October 5, 1813.[1]
