Adriaan Bancker is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A005688.

Adriaan Bancker was baptized on July 3, 1720, son of Christopher Bancker and Elisabeth Hooglant[1] His sponsors were his uncle, Adriaan Bancker, the silversmith and Belitje Renaudett [2]

On November 7, 1753, Adriaan married Anna Boelen, daughter of Abraham Boelen and Elizabeth de Peyster. Adriaan had inherited from his maternal grandfather Liutenant Adriaan Hooglandt lands that had been acquired by him as part of the Kayadarossas Patent. Adriaan sold a large part of his interest in the Patent in 1789, but a considerable portion went to his heirs.

Adriaan served as Supervisor of the Town of Westfield from 1772-1773. He was a Deputy from Richmond County, sent to the Second Provincial Congress 1775-1776. Had house on Wall St, NYC as late as 1776, from which 569 pounds of sash lead was taken for the Revolution. He was a Member of Assembly, in 1784. Adriaan is recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution for his Patriotic Service. His DAR records list his wife as Anna Boelen.

In June of 1776, Adriaan sent his wife and children to relatives in New Jersey for safe keeping from the invasion of British forces on Staten Island. By July 4th, as the Continental Congress in Philadelphia was declaring America as an independent nation, the British commander, General William Howe, and nine thousand troops landed on Staten Island. Howe made his quarters in the Bancker home and detained Bancker on a British naval vessel in New York Harbor. [3]

Anna, who was born June 18, 1733 and baptized at the Dutch Reformed Church of NYC, was buried June 15, 1790 in the cemetery of that church. At the time of Adriaan's death on September 9, 1792, his residence was Castleton, on Staten Island, New York.

Yes, Manhattan is IN New York City, but more specific. Castelton, in Richmond County, is already given as the place of death. Thank you, though.
