Corporal George Babcock served with 2nd Regiment, Berkshire County, Massachusetts Militia during the American Revolution.

George Babcock is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A004234.

George was the son of Isaiah Babcock and Elizabeth Plumbe.[1][2] He was baptized on 24 Sep 1749.[3] He married Susanna Sheldon. [4] Their children were:

George was a Corporal during the American Revolution. He served under Capt. Wm. Watkins, Col. Benj. Simonds / Simmons (2nd Berkshire County, MA. [5]

George died before 1816 and is buried in Hopewell Burying Ground, Hopewell Center, Ontario, New York. [6]

A good deal about George's family settling in Hopewell, Ontario, New York is found at the burrcok.com history site which includes early town and church records as well as recollections from a local resident who cared for the Cemetery records. [7][8]

Andrew, I believe there is a mix of two different George Waite Babcock's

1. This profile, George is the son of Isaiah and Elizabeth Plumbe b. 1749 2. The biography, George is the son of John and Lydia Babcock b. 1751 Both married Susanna's

  1. 1. married Susanna Sheldon
  2. 2 married Susanna Fowler

Both had a son George

  1. 1 is page 42 of Isaiah Babcock Descendants
  2. 2 is page 80 of Babcock Genealogy

I will leave it to you to fix.

This is challenging. I think maybe removing the entire Bio and starting over with the proper George Babcock of this family lineage.

The Find A Grave noted a problem by Robert contributor #49407754 “Every gravestone was photographed and posted years ago”

So if he is buried at Hopewell the stone isn’t going to be easy to locate
