Lawrence Allnutt, Sr was born July 20, 1749, in Calvert county, Maryland, a son of James Allnut (1713-1786) and Sarah Lawrence (1715-1752. On March 17, 1771, in Dawsonville, Maryland, Lawrence married Eleanor Lowe Dawson was born April 24, 1750, in in Frederick county, Maryland, a daughter of Thomas Dawson and Elizabeth Lowe. Lawrence died May 18, 1825, at the age of 75 years and is buried in the Monocacy Cemetery, in Beallsville, Montgomery County, Maryland. [1]
Lawrence Allnutt served as a soldier during the American Revolutionary War. He first enlisted with the Montgomery county Militia, and served with Captain Gassaway, under the command of Colonel Magruder. He later served in the Naval forces, attaining the rank of Ensign. [2]
Lawrence is honored for his military service, and his patriotic act of subscribing to the "Oath of Fidelity" in 1778. His Daughter of the American Revolution records are contained under Ancestor #A002008. Application for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by descendants of his son Lawrence Allnut, Jr. who married Eleanor White Smith and of his daughter, Anna, who married James Mackall Dawson.
