John Allen was born circa 1750, in Virginia and was residing in Orange county, Virginia at the time of the American Revolutionary War. John enlisted in the military, in Virginia and received a land grant in Georgia for his service. [1]
John Allen is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A001677. DAR records indicate that John died before January 2, 1832, in Franklin county, Georgia and that his wife's name was Mary Thomas. Applications for membership in the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution have been made by the descendants of their sons, Washington Allen, who married Martha Horton; and James Allen, who married Mary "Polly" Holley. [2]
