Ira Allen was a founder of Vermont and a member of the Green Mountain Boys. Allen was the brother of Ethan Allen, an American Revolutionary leader who fought for Vermont's independence. From 1776 until 1777, Allen was a member of the Vermont Legislature. He is noted for designing the Great Seal of Vermont and the seal of the University of Vermont.
Ira Allen was also an author and wrote the following books: 1) The Natural and Political History of Vermont, (London, 1798) and 2) Statements Appended to the Olive Branch, (1807).

From Find A Grave: Revolutionary War Militia Army Officer. Brother of the famed Ethan Allen. He was originally buried in Philadelphia's Arch Street Presbyterian Cemetery, but his remains were lost when that burial ground was obliterated.

Allen-1857 and Allen-3 appear to represent the same person because: I'm fairly certain that these two profiles represent the same person, Allen-1857 was probably a lieutenant before becoming a general? They're both in Vermont during the Rev War? What do you think?
