Henry P. Aleshire/Aleshite was born 19 Feb 1755, in the valley of Powell's Fort, Frederick (Shenandoah) County, Virginia, son of Johann Conrad Elscheid and Maria Catharina Goessel.
Much of what is known about Henry involves his service as a Sergeant in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Both Henry and his brother, John, served at the siege of Yorktown, and witnessed the surrender of British General Cornwallis. In John Conrad's application for pension he states he remained with his brother, Henry, at Yorktown, until Henry had to leave to take charge of British prisoners.
