Biography

Judah, son of Briggs and Mercy (Wadsworth) Alden, was born in Duxbury, MA on October 31, 1750. He married Welthea, daughter of Peleg and Lusanna (Samson) Wadsworth on February 17, 1780.

Judah was an officer in the Revolutionary War for which he was awarded a pension and a bounty land warrant for his service.

He started out as a Lieutenant in Col. Theophilus Cotton's regiment in 1775, then in Col. John Bailey's in 1776 becoming a Captain in 1777 and Brevet Major in 1783. [1] [2] [3]

His will, dated December 6, 1843 (codicil December 21, 1844) mentions daughters Lucia S. Smith, wife of Sylvanus, Welthea James, wife of William, and Mary Ann; sons John and Samuel.

Judah died in Duxbury on March 2, 1845 and was buried there at Mayflower Cemetery.
