Ichabod Alden was born on August 11, 1739 in Duxbury, Massachusetts. His parents were Samuel Alden and Sarah Sprague. [1]

He married Mary Wakefield on January 08, 1774. [2]

Together they had 2 children born in Duxbury: [1]

  1. John Alden, b. 1774.
  2. Rebecca Alden, b. 1777.

A veteran of colonial war, [3] Ichabod first served in the American Revolution as Lt. Col. in Col. Theophilus Cotton's regiment and then in the 25th Continental Regt. under Col. William Bond, then promoted to Colonel and commanded the 7th Massachusetts Regt. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]

He was killed in a surprise attack on November 11, 1778 in Cherry Valley, New York.

Probate

Ichabod Alden of Duxbury, Esqr., died intestate, and on 12 February 1779 his widow, Mary was granted the administration of his estate.[11]

His inventory was taken in Duxbury and recorded in Plymouth on 22 May 1779.[12]

In 1782, his estate was represented as insolvent by his widow, now Mary Partridge.[13] In 1785, a list of claims and creditors was recorded.[14]
