Solomon Aikens is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A000877.

Solomon was born on 15 July 1758 in Hardwick, Worcester, Massachusetts. He is the son of John Aikens and his wife Jerusha Atwood.[1]

Solomon served in the American Revolution. At the beginning of the war he was in Captain Billings' company in Colonel Learned's regiment at the siege of Boston. He then enlisted for a year in the company of Captain Josiah Lyman in the regiment of Colonel Porter, and marched to Quebec. The next spring he marched to Rhode Island, and then to Bennington and was at the capture of Burgoyne.

After the war, Solomon attended Dartmouth College and received a degree in 1784.

Solomon married Polly Warner on 12 October 1788 in Hardwick, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.[2]

Samuel served as an Army Chaplain in the War of 1812.

Solomon filed for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service on 25 May 1818. He was 59 years old and living in Dracut, Massachusetts. In a declaration dated 1821, Solomon is living in Hardwick, Vermont. He is a widower, and his family was his son Solomon, and four daughters: Alma, 22; Mary W., 20; Harriet, 16; and Selina, 10.[3]

Solomon died at age 74 on 3 June 1833, and is buried in Hardwick Center Cemetery in Hardwick Center, Caledonia County, Vermont.[4]
