-------- Notes from Allene (Adams) Fetter in her original publication of August 1985 as follows: ------------ "This genalogy or history of the Adams family begins with Robert "Rob" Adams, whose father came from Ireland to the Chester District of SC. “Rob” served under Ezekiel Polk in the revolutionary war (see Officers of the Continental Army by HEITMAN), then settled on Fishing Creek in Pulaski county, KY where he and Rebecca raised seven children. Rob Adams, his wife Rebecca and some of their decendants are buried in the Old Sardis (Adams) graveyard near Ansel, KY in Pulaski county. The old Rob Adams homestead was located just north of the graveyard.

The “Chester District of South Carolina” is probably the present location of Chester, SC 29706, which is the County Seat of Chester County and is located approx. 70 miles east of Greenville and 50 miles north of Columbia, SC on U.S. Highway 231."

There is no evidence nor proof that the father of Robert Adams was Alexander Adams. This was an assumption due to Robert naming his oldest son Alexander. The same goes for his suppose birth place of Ireland. DNA matches show a strong connection with a Robert Adams born in 1690 in Virginia, married to Mourning Lewis. Robert and Mourning had two known sons, James and Robert II. James' family is well documented. Robert's is not. Other than those DNA matches, I have not been able to find any other connection.
