The Genealogy and History of Henry Adams of Braintree, Massachusetts: "Levi Adams SR was a Soldier in the Revolution, DAR records exist for this family; Levi Adams Senior, (1728-1816) served as private and corporal in Capt. Timothy Backus' company, Col. John Douglas' Connecticut regiment. He was born in Canterbury, Conn.; died in Hartwick, N. Y. Levi and his four sons were carpenters by trade; with three of them; Levi, Jr., David, and John, he was soldier in the Revolution. He was at New London, Conn., at the time of the capture of Fort Griswold, September 7, 1781. He removed to Pawlet, Vt., in 1782, wither several of the family had gone. He removed thence in 1811, to Hardwick, Oswego Co., N.Y., when he died in 1816, age 88 years." [1]
