He was born on the third day of December in the year 1762 at the Town of Killingsly in the State of Connecticut—When about seven or eight years of age he removed with his father to the Town of Hartford in the State of Connecticut aforesaid, and in the year 1774 in the spring, he removed to Rhinebeck in the County of Dutchess & State of New York, in that part of the Town which is now Red Hook where he lived when called into service. He has lived since the Revolutionary War & where he lived at the time he applied for pension.

He was a soldier in the Revolution; enlisted from Rhinebeck, N. Y., Aug 8, 1775 in Capt. Henry B Livingstone's company of the 4th New York Regiment; is said to have been at Valley Forge, and to have received a pension. He was a "cordwainer," and purchased a house and lot in Red Hook, N.Y. in May, 1806. He d. in Red Hook, 31 Jan., 1846. [5]
