Samuel Adams was born in Canterbury, Windham, Connecticut on 28 Sep 1744, son of Joseph Adams and Dorotha Hyde. [1]

He married on 05 Nov 1772 in Killingly, Windham, Connecticut to Rachel Burrell (spelled Burrill on FAG). They had 17 children. [both facts needs source]

He and Rachel lived in Poultney, Vermont for a while, then migrated to Allegany County. Wellsville, New York with Rachel's sister Ester and her husband, Nathaniel Dyke. They settled a farm, called "Deer Lick Farm by the Indians because of the salt on the ground at that place."

Samuel served in the Revolutionary War along with his brothers Abner and Benjamin.
