Biography

Benjamin Adams was born 20 Nov 1735 in Rowley, Essex, MA. He lived in that part of Rowley, now Georgetown, in the Clark house on Haverill street and carried on the farm. He was known generally as "Lawyer Ben Adams" because of his pugnacity and fondness for litigation.

Captain Benjamin Adams, son of William and Elizabeth (Dorman) (Noyes) Adams, was born at Rowley, now Georgetown, Essex county, Massachusetts, November 20, 1735, died in 1817, while returning from a visit to his son. Dr. Samuel Adams, in Washington. He was a captain in the Continental army, was a member of the famous Boston Tea Party, and was present at the surrender at Yorktown. He married Mary, a daughter of Jonathan Harriman, and had ten children.
