Asaph Adams was born in Pomfret, Windham County, Connecticut on 30 June 1759 to Noah Adams and Meriam Adams.[1]
Asaph was a soldier during the Revolutionary War. He enlisted as a private in Captain Joseph Abbott's Company, 11th Regiment of the New York Militia in 1776. In 1778, he was enlisted as a private in Captain Moses Branch's Company, Col. Obadiah Johnson's Regiment, Connecticut militia.[2][3][4]
Asaph married Orinda Abbott on 20 October 1785 at the Old Trinity Episcopal Church in Pomfret (now Brooklyn), Windham County, Connecticut.[5][6] They had 9 children.
In 1799, Asaph was listed on a tax list as living in Pittstown, Rensselaer County, New York. He was at Otsego County, New York for 1801 tax list.[7]
He passed away on 25 March 1808 in Hartwick, New York. He was buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery (also known as Abner Adams Cemetery), near Hinman Hollow, Otsego County, New York.[8]
The Will of Asaph Adams was written on 19 March 1808 and proved on 1 June 1808. His heirs were his wife, Orinda, sons, Albigence, Royal, Abner, Isaac and Robert, and daughters, Betsey, Polly, Lucy and Sally.[9]
