Biography
Lieutenant Simon Abell served with 12th Regiment, Connecticut Militia during the American Revolution.
Simon Abell is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A000215.
Simon Abell was born 28 February 1746/7 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut Colony to parents Simon Abell and Parnel Willes.[1],[2]
Throughout his life, he was a member of the Goshen Society Church of Lebanon. He first married Rachel Patridge Brewster, daughter of Nathan Brewster. Together, they had one (known) child[2]:
- Brewster Abell, b. 4 Sept 1773 , d. 31 Oct 1846 Oswego, NY
His first wife died in 1776.
He then married Betty Bigelow, daughter of Asa & Dorothy (Otis) Bigelow, with whom he had the following (known) children[2]:
- Simeon (3rd), b. Feb 11, 1778
- Rachel b. 1778, d. Nov 10, 1826
- Betsey, b. Nov 9, 1781; m. John Giles
- Clarissa, b. Sept 10, 1784, m. Ralph Daniels
- Otis, b. July 26, 1788
- Harriet, b. Oct 31, 1792; m. Julius Thomas, May 24, 1825 in Lebanon.
- Harry/Harley, b. May 4, 1795; d Nov 28, 1864
Simon died on 25 Dec 1816[2] in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut, United States aged 69. He is buried in Goshen Cemetery, in Lebanon, Connecticut. [3]
