Aaron was born 2 April 1746 in Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Moses Abbott and Bathsheba Gilbert
He lived in Brookfield, New Braintree, and Greenwich, Massachusetts, and in Warren, Herkimer, New York where he died on 15 January 1821, at the age of 74.[2] He is buried in Bloomfield Cemetery, Herkimer County.
Aaron married Mary Ayres on 26 May 1768 in Warwick, Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay.[3]
Aaron and Mary had 8 children: Sewell, Danford, Aaron, Sarah, Calvin, Mary, Martin, and Pliny.
Aaron served in the Revolutionary War under several different commands from 1775 to about 1777.[4]

Elisha Porter’s regt., which marched April 20, 1775, in response to the alarm of April 19, 1775; service, 14 days; also, Private, Capt. Samuel Billing’s co., Col. Ebenezer Learned’s regt.; company return dated Oct. 7, 1775; also, Private, Capt. Isaac Powers’s co., Col. Elisha Porter’s regt.; enlisted July 10, 1777; discharged Aug. 12, 1777; service 1 mo. 9 days; marched on alarm to join Northern army under Gen. Schuyler.”[5][6][7]
