Biography

Thomas Wright was born about 1864 in St Helens. He was the son of Thomas Wright.

Thomas married Alice Morris on June 28th 1890 at St Peter's Church in Parr (Anglican). Thomas was 26 and a miner, and lived next door to Alice at 120 Chancery Lane. Alice was 19, and lived and number 122. Neither had been married before. Thomas could sign his name, Alice had to make her mark. Their fathers were recorded as John Morris (miner) and Thomas Wright (deceased labourer). The witnesses were William Wright and Mary Ellen Wharton.

By April 5th 1891, Thomas and Alice were lodging in Boundary Road, Eccleston. Thomas was working as a coal miner.

By March 31st 1901, they were living in Chancery Lane. Thomas was still working as a coal hewer. They had no children, and William Bradbury, a 36-year-old unmarried general labourer born in St Helens - presumably Alice's half-brother - was boarding with them.

By April 2nd 1911, Thomas and Alice were still living in St Helens, with no children and two boarders - Joseph Wright (aged 38) and William Bradbury (aged 47 - Alice's half-brother again).

Alice died in 1947 at the age of 73.
