Biography

Thomas D Wilson was born about 1802 in South Carolina. His parents have not been determined and the locations of their birth are unclear. He lists his father's and mother's birth locations as North Carolina and Maryland, respectively, in the 1880 US Census, [1] but as South Carolina for both of them in the 1885 Florida State Census. [2] Thomas married Harriet Smith. [3] Thomas and Harriet are found residing in Gadsden County in the 1850, [4] 1860, [5] 1870, [6] and 1880 [1] US Censuses. From these records, as well as a Gadsden County deed, [7] we know that he and Harriet likely marred before 1829 and were the parents of:

  1. William S Wilson (b. abt. 1829, Florida)
  2. Thomas Madison Wilson (b. abt. 1832, Florida)
  3. Sarah Elizabeth Wilson (b. abt. 1840, Florida)
  4. Julia Florida Wilson (b. 1842, Florida)
  5. Andrew James Wilson (b. 1844, Florida)
  6. Mary S Wilson (b. 1847, Florida)

He is last found as a widower in the 1885 Florida State Census and passed away sometime after this. [2]

Research Notes

Thomas D Wilson also appears in Gadsden County on an 1831 petition. [8]

There is a connection between Thomas D Wilson and James Madison Wilson in a 1859 bond. [9] Could Thomas D Wilson be another son of David S Wilson?
