Biography

Paul Andrew Tolar, 88, of Moultrie, GA and formerly of Tallahassee, St. Augustine and Madison, FL, died July 18, 2014. Paul was born October 2, 1925 in Hamilton County, FL to Lewis and Nella Allen Tolar.[1] Paul was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of the USS LSM-LSMR Association. He was a charter member of Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine, a former member of Faith Baptist Church in Madison, FL, and currently a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Moultrie. Paul owned and operated Paul Tolar Heating & Air Conditioning in St. Augustine for over 25 years. He is preceded in death by his parents; Lewis Tolar, Nella Tolar Colvin and Noah Colvin (stepfather); a daughter, Beverly Tolar Braswell; his brothers, George Tolar and Archie Colvin; and a sister, Detha Hurst. Paul was united in marriage on October 27, 1950 in Tallahassee to his wife, Louise Kittrell Tolar [2], who resides in Moultrie. He is also survived by his son, Paul (Patricia) B. Tolar of Moultrie; his daughter, Pamela (Mark William) Tolar Johnson of Harpers Ferry, WV; his brother, Burrl Tolar of Atlanta; his sisters, Vercie Cason and Udean Williams, both of Madison, FL; grandchildren, Buck and Lance Andrew Braswell, Kirstin Johnson Fritz, Mark Andrew Johnson, Lydia Johnson, Samuel Paul Johnson, and Anna Hall; and his great-grandchildren, Emilee and Laura Braswell, Blake and Mia Braswell, and Alexander and Gideon Fritz. Friends will be received Monday from 1-2 pm at the Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held that day at 2 pm. Interment will take place in Tallahassee Memory Gardens [3]. Memorial donations may be made to the Florida Baptist Children's Home.
