Lyman Cornelius Smith, son of Lewis Stevens Smith and Eliza Ann (Hurlbut) Smith was born March 31, 1850 at Torrington, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA.[1]
He married Flora Elizabeth Burns.[1]
He and his brothers, Wilbert Smith, Monroe C. Smith and Hurlbut Smith founded the Smith Premier Typewriter Company in 1886.[2] The Smith-Premier Typewriter Company later became the Smith-Corona Typewriter Company.[1]
He was a principal of L.C. Smith Shotgun Company of Syracuse which was sold to Hunter Arms Company in 1899.[1]
In 1903 the L. C. Smith & Bros. Typewriter Company was founded.[2]
Lyman died November 5, 1910 at age 60 at Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York and was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Syracuse, New York.[1] His memorial has photos, a biography and links to those of family members.[3]
