Frederick (30) married Sarah Cook (22) (born on November 3, 1874 in Altofts, Yorkshire) in 1897. Their son was Kenneth Smith (1906–1974). They also had sons, BEN and THOMAS who died in infancy^[1].

Frederick died on February 24, 1941 in Leeds, Yorkshire, aged 74. He was buried in Normanton Upper Cemetery, Normanton, Metropolitan Borough of Wakefield, West Yorkshire.^[1]
