Emery Schmitt has German Roots.
Emery was the son of Joseph Schmitt and Emma Arnoldi.
"Mr. Schmitt was born April 29, 1904, in Bloom township. He attended the Bloom schools and was graduated from the Hanson Auto and Tractor School at Fargo. He was one of the prominent farmers in the township. Mr. Schmitt was a member of St. James Catholic church, the Elks Lodge, the Eagles, A.O.U.W. and Modern Woodmen of America. Survivors are his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Otto Hertsfeldt and Miss Elsie Schmitt of Jamestown; and Mrs. Kem Murphy of Edgeley; and one brother, Lowell Schmitt of Jamestown. Here from out of the city for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Murphy of Edgeley; F. J. Schmitt of St. Paul, Minnesota; Mrs. J. J. Fitzpatrick of Stanley."
