Joseph Mitchell was born abt. 1770 in Bath, Lincoln, Massachusetts Bay Colony (now Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine) Previous versions of this profile showed his parents as Jonathan and Keziah (Libby) Mitchell and born on 22 Feb 1772. That has been disproven.His parents are TBD. Joseph Mitchell married 1st, Catherine "Cattey" Kelley on 28 Mar 1805 in Georgetown, Lincoln, Massachusetts (now Georgetown, Sagadahoc Maine). ^[2]Catherine passed away 29 Jan 1807 in Georgetown.

Joseph Mitchell married 2nd, Margaret (sic Mary or Margery) Potter on 2 Jan 1808 in Georgetown, Lincoln, Massachusetts (now Georgetown, Sagadahoc, Maine) ^[3] They had one son, Charles Potter Mitchell. Margaret died 2 Jan 1809 in Georgetown, about five weeks after the birth of her child.

Joseph Mitchell married 3rd, Elisabeth Delano on 28 Nov 1811 in Georgetown, Lincoln, Maine (now Georgetown, Sagadahoc, Maine).^[4] Joseph passed away 16 Apr 1860 in Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine.^[5]

Death: 2 Oct 1832. Leeds, Maine. Joseph Mitchell, farmer, born 22 Feb 1772 in Bath, Maine, son of Jonathan Mitchell and Keziah Libby, and husband of Lucy Lombard.^[8][9]

Note: There is a Josiah Mitchell as well as Jonathan and Keziah, and others, buried in the Lombard Cemetery.

According to the Nathan Hale Cemetery Collection, death occurred on 16 Apr 1860 Bath Cemetery: Oak Grove Cemetery Burial Place: Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine, age 77 USC1850 Bath, Maine Elizabeth alone USC1860 Bath, Maine ^[10] This source has over 20 Mitchells listed on the main page and the next - possibly more.
