William was born about 1798. [1] He was the son of James Mitchell, farmer. [2]
As of 1860 (Griffith's Valuation), he sublet a house at Ballynasollus (Derryloran portion) from James Glasgow.
On 8 Dec 1870 at Derryloran Church of Ireland, as a widower of Ballynasollus, he married widow Mary Henry, daughter of King Henry. [2]
He passed away 22 April 1875 age 77, married, at Ballynasollus. Informed by Mary Mitchal, Ballynasollus. [3]
There is an age discrepancy between partners on this marriage; although that was a somewhat common thing for this time period in Ireland; old widower farmers taking a young wife.
I have not found any other records for Mitchells at Ballynasollus besides this 1870 marriage, 1875 death, and the marriage of his daughter Maria. Suggesting this may have been the only Mitchell family of that townland.
William James Mitchell (abt.1858-1934) could possibly be a son. His parents were said to be William Mitchell and Mary Crooks.
David Mitchell (abt.1808-1906) also named "James Mitchell" as father; although he was from Drumlea , Lower Bodoney.
James Mitchell (bef.1782-) is a possible father.
