Biography

Daughter of Eli Wesley Michael and his second wife Jane Hodges.

Marena was five years old and living in Brownsville in 1870 with her father, Eli, and mother, Jane, and siblings. Her only younger sibling, Drury Voorhees Michael, was age 3. Her siblings David, Sarah, Eli and Elizabeth were older.^[1]

She was attending school at age 15.^[2]

Marena married Martin Paris Fruit, 9 Jan 1890, the elder brother of William Albert Fruit who married Addie Malinda Michael.

Marriage: Marena added the extra t to the Fruit name; likely she was tired of being addressed, "Hello, Mrs. Apple," by the young wags of Brownsville (Cecil Robe relates this jest).

Mother of Victor E. Fruit, George Henry Fruit, Albert G. Fruit.^[3]

The family was living in Corvallis in 1910. Son Cecil W. Fruit b 1903.^[4]

Bur. in Oak Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Benton Co., OR.
